Re-Writing SME Contracts

Working From Home

In today’s world, remote work has become the new normal, and many companies have had to adjust to this new reality. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have had to be particularly nimble, adapting to new work from home conditions while still maintaining productivity and compliance.

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with an SME in North Wales to re-write their contracts to fit work from home conditions. The company, which had previously operated out of a physical office, had to adapt quickly to remote work due to the pandemic. However, their existing contracts did not reflect this new reality, and there were concerns around compliance and employee rights.

We began by conducting an audit of the company’s existing contracts, policies, and procedures and identified areas that needed to be updated. It became apparent that he company’s remote work policy, working hours, and equipment provision needed to be adapted to the post-pandemic conditions. We also reviewed the contracts to ensure that they complied with employment law and were fair to employees.

Once the audit was complete, we worked with the SME to update their contracts and policies. This included clarifying the expectations around remote work, setting out guidelines for communication and collaboration, and outlining the equipment and technology that would be provided to employees. We also ensured that the contracts complied with employment law and protected the rights of both the company and its employees.

The result of this collaboration was a set of updated contracts and policies that were tailored to the company’s specific needs and work from home conditions. The SME was able to implement these changes quickly and smoothly, giving their employees greater clarity and peace of mind. They also felt confident that they were complying with employment law and protecting their business interests.

Overall, our work with this SME in North Wales highlights the importance of updating contracts and policies to fit new working conditions. As remote work becomes increasingly common, companies must ensure that their contracts and policies reflect this new reality.
